@Dunedin/Honeymoon Island - a perfect sunset location

One of Florida’s best-loved state parks, Honeymoon Island has more than four miles of beach to explore along with a three-mile trail through one of the last remaining virgin slash pine forests. Prior to the Hurricane of 1921, Honeymoon Island and nearby Caladesi Island were one large island known as Hog Island. The hurricane split the island in half and created Hurricane Pass. Before Europeans arrived in the Americas, Native Americans of the Tocobaga tribe inhabited the island. These people harvested the abundant sea life from the surrounding waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

Honeymoon island has been a special place for sunsets ... a 'sorta' driftwood beach (Jekyl Island) landscape highlighting trees and shrubs weathered by storms and salt air. Several years ago, the Honeymoon Island beach was wide and great for visitors to stretch out a blanekt and enjoy the area.

About a year ago, we planned to snap sunsets and have a picnic dinner on the beach with friends, and what we found was disappointing. There was terrible erosion of the beach area and the width of useful beach was less than 15-20 ft. My special memories were photo shoots with Eddie and Jennifer and the time I was able to capture my first Milky Way !! ... check it out below.
