Britton Hill is the highest natural point in the state of Florida, United States, with a summit elevation of 345 feet (105 meters) above mean sea level. Britton Hill is the lowest state highpoint in the United States,[3] 103 feet (31 m) lower than the next lowest highpoint, Ebright Azimuth in Delaware, and far lower than many skyscrapers in Miami and other urban areas of Florida.

We moved to Florida in 2006. Leaving New Jersey, I also left behind a hobby or sport - snow shoeing during the winter. With friends from work, we challenged ourselves to snowshoe all the mountains in the Catskill Mountain range over 3500 ft. We also started, but never completed the same in the Adirondacks (probably because that was a much further drive). Now in Florida, I was interested in what the highest elevation was in our state Florida and how it compared to other states and could I climb it.

Finding Lakewood Park in Britton Hill, we started at the base of the hill, made sure we properly hydrated and previously carbohydrate loaded ... and We Were Ready! We jumped into the car and in 2 minutes reach the peak - exhausted and sweating we rested for 10 minutes and then scouted the area (lol). Nice park, well maintained, and another unique and interesting Florida find.
