Notes: (our 3rd visit) this site is one of a handful of Florida destinations that Ginger and I agree it is a site to re-visit if the opportunity presents itself. We were treated on this visit a rare personal tour (just the two of us) by the Ranger. It gave us a chance to ask lots of questions and allowed us to learn much about the caverns. Of course, the Ranger pauses when 60 feet below the surface, and proceed to turn off the artificial light so we can stand in TOTAL DARKNESS - eerie!
Florida Caverns State Park is a state park of Florida and part of the Florida State Parks system. It is located in the Florida Panhandle near Marianna. It is the only Florida state park with air-filled caves accessible to the public.. The limestone caves in the park have stalagmites, stalactites and flow-stones formed by the erosion of bedrock.
