A short drive from downtown Sarasota, Siesta Key sits adjacent to the glittering Gulf of Mexico and its Siesta Public Beach has been named the nation’s best -- twice. This quaint yet quirky 8-mile-long island offers shopping, resorts, dining and nightlife. Known for its brilliant quartz sand, turquoise waters and many beachside amenities, Siesta Key is a must-visit island paradise. Siesta Key offers something for everyone. Siesta Key is a romantic getaway for lovers, a family vacation destination and a playground for active sports enthusiasts.

When Ginger and I visited Siesta Key, we walked the beach and drove through the main street in the center of 'tourist' activity. We did enjoy a great casual dinner (the name of the restaurant escapes me but there are many places to choose from - many offering outdoor dining) After parking and then walking a small section of the town, capturing a few photos, we dashed off to the beach. Our first take-away was the beach was ENORMOUS!

On another photo occasion, Eddie and I wanted to spend some time on the beach. Eddie brought his 'new' Sony to try HDR and low-light options. We enjoyed capturing people beach - walking, throwing footballs and just enjoying night air.

Suggested Photo Opportunities:
  • Night life down main street
  • Sunsets on the beach
  • Guard stations before night fall
