March 10, 2024 Revisit - Our road trip begins along RT98, a not to busy, easily travel road in the Panhandle south, starting in Perry, FL. First stop Sopchoppy. A small, rural community known as Worm Gruntin' Capital of the World - an annual festival (don't ask). The railroad line came through in the 1890's where the Sopchoppy economy was based on lumber, turpentine, honey, and farming. Not a 'bustling' community, but were we found a great pottery shop 'in the woods'.
(10/12/21) Sopchoppy is a small yet unique town located near the gulf coast; 45 minutes southwest of Tallahassee. Nestled in the heart of the Apalachicola National Forest, we are a haven for the outdoor enthusiast. From hiking, fishing, canoeing, hunting and camping, we have it all. In addition to that, it is a great place to call home!

Sopchoppy ... just the name interested Ginger and me to visit this small town. As it turns out, Sopchoppy is a small, community in Crawfordville and 45 minutes southwest of Tallahassee. Now, there wasn't too much to see or do in Sopchoppy. However, there was a unique one-man business - a pottery and ceramic craft, that is tucked away in the woods.
George (the owner/artist) shared with us that there is no street address, he doesn't have a website and marketing is word of mouth when visitors share their travels on social media sites like TripAdvisor, Yelp, etc.
