(Jan '15) After over 9 months of deciding on a destination for a 3-4 day road trip, we chose a photo safari to Jekyl Island, Georgia. We selected Driftwood Beach on Jekyl Island as our distant destinations because a) it was an easy travel of about 330 miles and b) it was an interesting nature presentation of huge trees that dotted a mile stretch of the Georgia Island. In mapping out the trip, we included stops in spleen
(Amelia Island), the Kingsley Slave Mansion, St Augustine and drop-by at Rick and Vana's in Pomona Park. (click the photos below for full size images and here for all photos).
On Jekyll Island, Driftwood Beach we observed during the magic photography hour (1/2 hour before sunset and 1/2 hour after sunset) beautiful scenes of ocean, landscape and natural lighting. This was followed up by dinner at a resort Bistro and prep for the sunrise photo captures the next day. From Jekyl Island, our journey took us to Amelia Island and the Historic district in Fernandina, Florida for a walking photo tour. (continue: see Fernandina Beach)
